Nationals 2021- Volunteer Orientation

The host organizing committee is looking for volunteers to help with the operation of the 2021 Canadian Sprint Canoe Kayak Championships. If you are interested please email

The 2021 Canoe Kayak Canada Sprint National Championships are a volunteer-run event. Traditionally, clubs and parents from across Canada have committed time over the course of the week to help things run smoothly. We will need your help from August 23-29.

While Boat Drivers are always needed, we are also focused on ensuring our athletes can get into the facility as quickly and safely as possible. Ideally, we need folks who are flexible in volunteering, and willing to join our “EVENT CREW” team that will manage logistics – including athlete check-in and traffic flow for the morning and afternoon race sessions.

Volunteering is fun, a great way to get up close (but not too close!) to our athletes, and crucial to making the event a success. Volunteer shifts are half-day in length for a morning or afternoon.

In exchange for helping us out, we guarantee that if you have an athlete racing, you can stop whatever it is you are doing to watch your paddler. We will also provide you with food from some of Ottawa’s finest local sandwich shops, a free parking spot, and if all goes well, a fairly cool re-wearable t-shirt that will not have the word “VOLUNTEER” across the back.

If you are interested, please let us know you would like to be part of our “EVENT CREW” by emailing us at volunteer@rideaucanoeclub.ca or by selecting a slot through our iVolunteer website:

Individuals that signup early will have their names added to our weekly swag draw for various Rideau Canoe Club merchandise!

If emailing us, please let us know what day or days you may be interested in helping us out. We will be back to you about two weeks prior to the event to finalize time slots and roles for our volunteers that can be easier built around your schedule.
