Our Venue

Regina has a proud history of hosting top-tier paddling events. This will be the fifth time we’ve welcomed the National Championships, and our experience speaks for itself. We’ve also hosted the 2005 Canada Games, the 2014 North American Indigenous Games, the IDBF World Dragon Boat Championships, and in 2026, we’ll proudly host the ICF World Dragon Boat Championships.

Wascana Centre, located in the heart of Regina is a sprawling 930-hectare urban park centered around Wascana Lake. This beautifully landscaped park is an exceptional venue for hosting the National Championships.

Venue Highlights

  • Purpose-Built Facilities: Our Finish Line Facility is located atop of Pine Island. Accessible via a pedestrian bridge, the island features a tiered lookout and seating areas that provide panoramic vistas of the lake and the Saskatchewan Legislative Building.
  • Optimal Racing Conditions: The lake’s design and depth provide calm and consistent water conditions. Its expansive layout accommodates a 10 lane race course with plenty of room for warmups, cool downs and a victory lap under the Pine Island bridge.
  • Central Location: Situated within Wascana Centre, the lake is easily accessible from various parts of Regina. Its proximity to downtown ensures that participants and spectators have convenient access to accommodations, dining, and other amenities.
  • Scenic Surroundings: The picturesque environment of Wascana Centre, with its lush greenery and well-maintained landscapes, offers an inviting atmosphere for both athletes and visitors. The presence of walking and cycling trails, picnic areas, and other recreational facilities enhances the overall experience.

Athletes Village

Nestled in a grassed meadow next to Pine Island, the Athletes’ Village offers a welcoming and convenient hub for teams. There’s ample space for team tents and boat storage, with quick access to the docks and prime viewing spots on Pine Island. Athletes will also find nearby washroom facilities and water stations for convenience. The First Aid Station is also located in the Athletes Village.

We encourage all participants to bring refillable water bottles, as we aim to minimize waste and discourage the use of single-use plastic bottles.

Vendor Village

Throughout the week, a variety of food vendors will be on-site to help fuel your experience, offering tasty and convenient options for all preferences. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite between races or looking for a meal, you’ll find something to satisfy your cravings.

In addition, be sure to stop by the merchandise area to pick up your 2025 National Championship gear and other great finds to commemorate your week.

Beer Tent

Located right by the finish line, the Nationals Beer Tent offers some of the best views of the racing action. It’s the perfect spot for spectators to relax, catch up with friends, and soak in the atmosphere of the Championships.

Open daily from XX:XX to XX:XX, the tent will feature a selection of local craft beer and a welcoming vibe for all adult guests.
